Any devastatingly painful thought that feels totally real and true, if it's between 10pm and 6am*, I can be absolutely assured that it's untrue, all-or-nothing thinking, unhelpful, or all the above.

In related news, the alternate universes where I have never existed are not better. Or worse. Thinking they're better is a trap. They're just as beautiful/tragic as this one.

Nothing that comes to us after dessert or before morning coffee can be considered in the least to be reliable information. This is one of the fundamental rules of the Universe.

I know! These things seem SO OBVIOUS once I feel better, but, man, at 4am, it's so hard to break free. It's nice to have a simple rule like this, and then aim to remember it when the tim comes. 'Is it night-time? Then any worry, it is totally safe to disregard.'
