Saturday was a truly enjoyable day.  Farmer's market in the morning with B, and then [profile] otterkin & I went to pick strawberries and sugar snap peas at Rowe's produce farm. Blue sky, green plants, lots of yummy juicy fruits and vegetables in my picking boxes. Then a nap, then prepping strawberries for the freezer and for strawberry shortcake (which was totally awesome).

Rowe's also has other kinds of peas (the season for strawberries & peas typically ends by or before the 4th of July), and raspberries July-October. They're east of Ypsilanti off 94, the Rawsonvile Road exit.

That would be very fun! One thing that both Emily & I discovered was that the fruits started getting overripe right away, so if possible, try to allow enough time during the same day to do what you're going to do with them; and any extra whole berries, maybe try keeping the fridge?

Well, I don't make jam either. But I *do* make frozen strawberries, and strawberries for strawberry shortcake, so just warning you! (Emily *had* to make jam, because she waited until Sunday, and they had all started to go bad.)

So... visit the neighbors the same day. :)

We just had our entire (small) crop of sugar snap peas mowed down by a tiny little bunny.
