If I wanted to buy a cotton kimono somewhere nearby, does anyone have any idea where I could do so?
(My backup solution will be to make one.)
(Humidity is dumb.)

Date: 2008-06-07 11:38 pm (UTC)I've had reasonable success with this dress pattern, which is kimono-ish:

I prefer the short-sleeved version. It also dips quite low in the front, so a tank is good underneath.
I'm in the process of making cool clothing for hot muggy summer days. I just got several different pieces of fabric to make a long flowy dress, a skirt, and another pair of wrap pants. I spent a few days this week helping a friend do all her mom's gardening for the summer, and her mom gave me a $20 gift card for JoAnn's. Yay, free fabric!

But the first want is for something robe-style, hence kimono. Yes, probably easy- mostly straight lines unless the neck/opening is doing something more complicated. Maybe tomorrow I'll head out to JoAnne's & see what they have.
Also, I didn't forget that we'd talked about re-lining winter coats; I'm debating this still; My coat is a dark heather-grey, and if it were a solid I'd re-line no question; I've actually been debating dying it but that sounds like bad idea / too much work with debatable outcome. Ah, fashion. I'm undecided on this one. Perfect coats are hard to find. Especially for less than an arm & a leg. Re-lining is probably the prudent choice. Indecision! Gack!

As for re-lining our coats, I would rather wait until I can stand the thought of touching wool. Which isn't going to happen in the forseeable future (meaning the 10-day forcast on the weather channel).
