Last weekend was totally fun.  We had a soon-expiring free hotel stay, so we good old 89A through Old Town Cottonwood, up and past Jerome, and through the switchbacks to Prescott.

It's a beautiful town.  Our two favorite local businesses interestingly share a name, though they are not actually related to each other.  The first is The Raven, a stationery/paper/gift store whose buyer has a great eye for things that B & I like.  The second is the Raven Cafe -  great, comfy, artsy, tasty, local ingredients.

We asked the woman at the hotel front desk where else we should visit, and she sent us up to Lynx Lake, which she said had some hiking trails and a restaurant, which we presumed would be a kind of dive-y burgers-and-beers.  And, you can get burgers and beers (6 on tap), but it's actually owned by an older German couple, with accents still intact, so the menu is heavily german-themed.  And, it turns out, majorly delicious.  Saturday evening is German night, so there are extra specialties, and music.

So: S & B, sitting at a heavy wood table next to a window, looking out over a lake nestled in pine-tree-covered hills, eating yummy food, looking out at more than a dozen hummingbirds flitting from bird-feeder to bird-feeder, and listening to accordion music played by an older fellow who was originally from the UP of Michigan.

The next day, we visited a nature center and walked along its (fascinating) geology trail.

And, bagpipes? Heard after coming out of the grocery store later that evening. Apparently there's a celtic pub nearby.

Serendipitous wackiness.

Doing taxes is one of those tasks that kind of throws me into a tizzy.  But!  Assuming I'm capable enough to do my taxes, which I am, then there's nothing to actually worry  / freak out about.  What I have to remember -- and constantly remind myself, moment by moment -- is that it's just work, and to just keep plugging away.

So here are some of the things we're looking at in this tax year:
  • B school
  • Selling stock
  • Moving expenses
  • Two states residency
  • B Michigan job
  • Sqwook Michigan job
  • New business: B consulting
  • New business: sqwook / jewelry
  • B school expense
  • Charitable giving
  • House sale / loss
  • Mileage

Help me, Turbo-tax-kenobi, you're my only hope!
