I was at the Mich Womyn's Music Festival during one of the meteor showers, and around midnight one night, I kicked back on a picnic table and saw, oh, 15 or 16 in an hour. At one point, a woman came up and asked if I as ok. She was not (somewhat surprisingly) hitting on me, but was worried that I was sad or drunk or something. I told her I was watching for shooting stars, and she launched into a yak about how she's never seen any. In the time she was talking, I saw 3-4 more... :)
Yes, it wasn't crayon-orange, but it was definitely orange like a flame, and it looked closer or bigger than the little white ones that you usually see. Very cool!
