Growing cotton

Would it not be cool to grow cotton? (Okay, okay, yes, it has a cool seedpod AND fluffy seedpoofs.) Here's a variety that can grow in this area:

Hopi short staple cotton (Gossypium hirsutum v punctatum) 100 days

They've been growing it at various nearby national and state parks as part of examples of what native americans could have grown in this region. This is a demo I can fully get behind. Plus - Seedpods with seedpoofs inside!
