Fly-by update
Aug. 7th, 2010 06:48 amHello! I don't always feel like a have an LJ post, but I *do* have a bunch of random things I want to share. Now I understand why people do the "X things make a post" type entries. :)
* B & I are official business owners! And I spent this first week answering the phone, taking lots of orders, & packing & shipping stuff.
* Administration-wise, I have Quickbooks set up & am using it for invoices & payments; now I just need to start entering expenses. And get B to dig up receipts for the business-related stuff he's bought.
* New product ideas: We're pondering doing a pendant that would represent the elements of nature (earth, air, fire, water) so I 'm excited about that. Why the elements? Nature is very important to me, and I think being able to help people connect to the real world around us would be a great thing to do. The concept of the elements is simple enough to work with while complex enough to hold a lot of ... I want to say "fertile ground" for exploring. :) It has a hint of magick and mystery to it, but it's also really grounded in the real world around us. Wow my language is earth-based, interesting. I also was thinking of doing a seperate design for each of the elements - that would appeal to *me* but then again I'm not the best example of what's generally popular in the world. *If*, however, there's ever a Fire one, then extrastout will definitely get one.
* The elements of nature and YOU: I have the most affinity with earth, fire, and water. What elements do you think YOU have the most affinity with?
Also, I can think of other people who seem more aligned with Fire or Earth, and Water - it's hard for me to picture Air in people though. Anybody that you & I know who have an affinity with Air?
* Sqwook in pictures: I want to post photos to Facebook & need to take the time to do that. I tried to take photos of the baby quails the other day and I'm curious to see if they came out or not - if so, then expect to see them soon!
* Health update: The watching-weight is going pretty good I think. My goal is to lose twenty pounds & I'm somewhere around 25% there. I'm glad we're not keeping too much snacky food in the house, because I have definite times where I just feel like eating something. (Not necessarily related to actual hunger.) And it's probably a good thing when the only things I can find in the house are cucumbers, hakurai turnips, and raw almonds. (I know pounds is not the perfect measure, but that's what my insurance company looks at to decide if they'll cover me, so that's what we're going with. The good news is: I have coverage! But I don't want to see a doctor until I'm well under their magic number for my height.)
* Mountains are beautiful: I never did post any details of the Denver trade show trip. The main thing I wanted to say is: Mountains are beautiful. I must go back. Boulder, CO is also really great, and looks like there are some really lovely hikes. June is the perfect time because there are mountain wildflowers. I love mountains.
* Hiking today? Today it'll rain, which always brings chance of flash floods out here, so we're debating going on a hike. It's probably a no - I just heard thunder. We missed last weekend, so I hope tomorrow is good - I want to get out & about!
Miss you!
