In northern AZ
Jun. 1st, 2010 09:11 pmWe're here in Sedona, with many many boxes filling the apartment - but it's slowly starting to look like B--AndSqwooklandia. It was actually a lot of fun to do the cross-country trip (2000 miles over 4 days) with my dad - he was driving the 26 foot (!) truck & I drove my car, and we had walkie-talkies so we could keep in touch, point out weird license plates, figure out which onramp actually got back onto I-40 westbound, etc. I do love a good roadtrip. And a good rock-cut.
Missouri is absolutely beautiful, along with eastern Oklahoma - the American prairie! Deep green oaks! Purple coneflowers growing wild in the roadsides! The Gallup, NM area is also really beautiful, and worth a trip back.
My first night here, the sky was filled with a bazillion stars. And it was so quiet we left all the windows open while we slept. (Though I was so keyed up about the stars it was hard to feel sleepy.) Last night I thought a high-beam searchlight was shining on us from the top of the cliff. It was the moon.
Sending much love to all of you.
