Here's your excuse reason to get outside and enjoy spring -- Identifying Spring Wildflowers workshop, Sunday April 26, 1-4pm, Creekshead Nature Preserve, just north of Ann Arbor. Cost: $10 Stewardship Network members, $15 non-members. I'll be there helping to lead the workshop!
To sign up: Register online or call (734) 996-3190.
Creekshead Preserve is carpeted with gorgeous native wildflowers this time of year. They're often called 'spring ephemerals', and for good reason -- a week or two before or after, and you'll miss them. At this workshop, you’ll learn about plant identification, ‘indicator species’ that can help you determine habitat types, and threats to wildflower areas, including invasive plants such as garlic mustard. Then we’ll hit the trail to see what we can find and identify. All participants receive a handy flower identification book to take home. Should be both fun and interesting -- a winning combination!
