Today's miracles
Oct. 3rd, 2007 06:59 pm-orchids seen during the annual site visit at one of the Land Trust's properties (unfortunately, and of course, they were not in bloom, but still.)
-sassafras trees turning from light green to lemon yellow to fiery orange - all on a single leaf - and gleaming in the sun
-euonymus atropurpurea - also known as ... get ready... the Wahoo Tree! - seen with its blindingly fuschia seed capsules and scarlet seeds, on Huron River Drive near Ann Arbor.
(If you're interested in native trees (otterkin) this one is worth the drive. This euonymus is considered of special concern in Michigan, though not legally protected. Did I mention blindingly fuschia?)
-how autumn can shock me every time with its spectacle.
